Abortion Laws today
During interwar period abortions were legalised in some cases of pregnancy. In Soviet times until 1953 abortions were illegal, but, after that, abortion was allowed until 12th week of pregnancy on request of woman.

In 2002 abortion law of Soviet period was taken into the new legislation, which again allowed abortion until 12th week of pregnancy on request of woman.

Local prolife activist Mr. Jānis Lulle brought 40 Days for Life to Latvia after participation in some prolife conference.
