Abortion Laws today
Currently, in Poland, abortion is illegal with 2 exceptions:
1. Pregnancy is a result of illegal act (e.g. rape)
2. Due to pregnancy, there is a serious health or life danger for the mother
Both exceptions allow to abort the child until 12 weeks of pregnancy. After that, it’s still possible but only with the second exception and the mother needs to verify it with two different doctors.
Most of the woman are either ordering pills from the “Abortion without borders” or getting psychiatric papers proving that her pregnancy is dangerous for her mental health.
How and where vigils began
The team decided to lead the first vigil in Warsaw in Fall 2023, after the visit of the 40 Days for Life International team.
