A volunteer, on her way back from work, got off at the stop near the abortion clinic to pray a rosary instead of going straight home to rest.
While the volunteer was praying in front of the clinic, she had a conversation with a woman who was saddened because her young daughter had decided to have an abortion.
Taking advantage of the moment when the daughter stepped out of the clinic for a smoke, the woman asked the volunteer to speak with her.
The volunteer asked the Holy Spirit to put the right words in her mouth, and after that blessed conversation, the young girl’s mother confirmed to the volunteer that her daughter had decided not to go through with the abortion.
The Lord hears our prayers and makes us His instruments to save lives.

This week, in the midst of the rain, a pregnant mother, visibly distressed and with tears in her eyes, approached one of our volunteers who was praying silently. The volunteer asked her:
“Are you going to do something you don't want to do?”
She replied “yes.” After more than an hour of conversation, amidst the external and internal storm, this brave mother decided to continue with her pregnancy.

Yesterday, on the eve of Saint Joseph (the abortion center is in Saint Joseph Street), a young couple came to have an abortion. They saw the 40 Days for Life signs and volunteers, and she got emotional and started weeping, before entering the abortion center. They got in and she underwent the ultrasound. She could see her child on the screen. The doctor told her to go on to the operating room. She refused and replied that they were having their baby. They went out and, smiling and happy, told the volunteers what had happened and thanked them for being there. They said that the signs had been the turning point to think twice about they were going to do.

Today there was a life saved in Lisbon.
A woman was leaving the Arcos clinic. Her eyes were bright.
She did not realise the person she encountered was pro-life. She said she was going to have the baby.
Why did you change your mind? asked the volunteer.
I really don't know, she replied. I was going to have an abortion. I was sure I was going to have it.
Suddenly, after the ultrasound, she was convinced not to have the abortion.
She wrote to the volunteer on whatsapp with positive words. It was very providential.

I would like to share a most heartwarming and encouraging story.
A couple approached us this morning to tell us that they were at MSI 9 years ago for an abortion when they spoke to a tall English man at the vigil. He showed them the development of a baby and they decided not to have an abortion. They didn't take any help and they said the first year was very hard, but they were so happy to show us this picture of their sons, the younger 8 year old son is here because of the vigils. Ave Maria!
Because of the national and local buffer zones we are about 500m from the abortion centre. But by the grace of God we are still able to reach women coming for abortions from here as well as speaking to other members of the public. Here is an encouraging story from yesterday (from a time when we could stand outside the abortion centre...)

A village health team came to my consultation last week with abortion intensions due to lack of resources to support the upbringing of a child. She already has four children who are sick. Father is suffering from cancer she is the bread winner, husband not supportive. Today she came with a affirmative report. She has chosen life after my canceling season. Her husband has accepted to support her. Prayer works!

A woman came to abort her 27-week-old daughter. She leads a hard life of loneliness and significant hardships that made her consider abortion because she did not want to offer that to her daughter.
When she arrived at the abortion clinic, she first saw the pro-life local and approached it, but it was closed. Then she saw the prayer warriors of 40 Days for Life and went to them to ask for help.
We are with Tania, and she is already feeling calmer. Thanks to the association “Hogar de María” for helping us continue her support.
Prayer saves lives! Glory to God
