10 Pro-Life New Year’s Resolutions to make in 2025

New Year is always a time to make plans and preparations for the forthcoming year. In recent years the unthinkable has happened. Roe versus Wade was overturned: the biggest and most extraordinary event in the history of the pro-life movement, inconceivable even in recent history. What can be accomplished in 2025? A vision for what God can do in the next year can help us accomplish any plan. Here are some small suggestions of small actions that can be done with great love for unborn children to help the pro-life movement where you live.
1. Pray
Prayer is the foundation of 40 Days for Life because with God all things are possible, including the ending of abortion. When we pray we lift our heart and mind to God, and we seek to divinize our own life to resemble that of Jesus Christ in our own age. Abortion grieves the heart of God. When we bring prayer to the reality that millions of unborn children die from abortion every year, things begin to happen: healing, transformation and changing hearts are just the beginning.
2. Vote or write to your political representative
When we vote in an election we use democratic means to express our views of who we want to represent us in the political sphere either locally or nationally. We can help make abortion a prominent issue by voting for pro-life politicians and not voting for anybody who contravenes our belief system. If there is no pro-life candidate we can abstain or find other means of expressing ourselves using creativity. We can hold political candidates to account by asking them to vote in pro-life topics in the Parliament or assembly, or helping bring awareness of the pro-life cause and issues by writing to them to inform them on important, relevant topics.
3. 40 Days for Life
Organising a 40 Days for Life campaign is one of the best things you can possibly do for the pro-life movement. This is because taking prayer to the place that abortion happens almost always brings extraordinary results because it is the front line on the spiritual battle between life and death. In many countries there is an annual March or Walk for Life. If your country does not have one, think about organizing a public witness. This is a strong way to realize solidarity with other pro-lifers, be a public witness to the humanity of the unborn in the public square and build a growing awareness of the humanity of the unborn to prominent leaders in your country. You can invite others to participate and get involved in the pro-life movement for the first time. Unborn children cannot communicate well themselves but we can advocate and communicate for them their value and worth to society. That is how we create a society where no more children die and no more women cry from the wounds of abortion.
7. Make a Plan
Write down a clear plan for what you can accomplish for the pro-life movement during 2024. Be bold, ask for great things and in prayer step up mentally, spiritually to the person that God is asking you to be. Write down the steps and particular things that God is calling you to do for the pro-life movement. Make sure they are specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and timely. When you have written down precisely what you want to achieve you can then work on accomplishing them, and at the end of the year you can look back at whether you accomplished what you set out to do.
8. Build a culture of life at home
It is all well if we are publicly advocating against abortion, but if we don’t live a pro-life existence in our personal life then we would be hypocrites. Building a culture of life at home involves putting family first, valuing children, educating well and being open to the gift of life if we are married. God created families as his plan and we can find happiness and holiness in the home if we seek to do God’s will there. Not everyone is married or has children, we can still integrate pro-life values into our life if we are single by valuing family and living a grace filled life.

One tangible good that you can do is get your Priest/pastor informed about the pro-life cause, keeping them up to date and asking them to promote the pro-life movement in the parish by supporting organizations, providing links to anyone in need and helping to create a pro-life parish. In this way you can personally invite not just yourself but your whole community to be involved in pro-life activism personally, spiritually and collectively to powerfully make a bigger impact where you are. Your priest and pastor can invite thousands to participate in the pro-life cause and as a representative from God, has spiritual authority to make even more of a difference for the pro-life movement in 2024.

One of the best ways you can impact the pro-life movement is to be training in pavement counseling.
