Attacks to our vigils in Jamaica
18-MARCH • Jamaica • Kingston
The vigil site in Kingston, Jamaica has heated up significantly. Just recently, a group of ladies turned up making a lot of noise and said they were going to take down the pro-life signs and tear them up.
One of the ladies was there to have an abortion and was vocal and very aggressive. They then returned, stole the big 3 foot by 3 foot signs, and used scissors to cut up 3 of the 40 Days for Life signs. They also dropped a cinder block on the head of a team member and hit the side of his head with it.
There were no wounds or issues, but they brought the team member to the hospital and filed a report to the police. Another lady was pushed, and a lady returned with a stick in hand and stole another sign. The team called the police. They thought it was possible that she wanted to wet up the area they were standing in with some of spell or curse. It seems that one of the women and perhaps others are prostitutes and some of the staff are conspiring to get them to come and make trouble.
It is estimated that there are between 28 to 60 abortions in Jamaica a day, in a country where abortion is illegal. 6 babies have been saved from abortion from this first time campaign, and the campaign has featured on the front page of the national press in Jamaica. Jamaica has an established crisis pregnancy movement along with great opportunities to take the pro-life movement to a whole new level.
