Bishop joins vigil in Hungary

Tuesday, 1 April, 2025 • Hungary • Vac

"There used to be 15 abortions per week in the Vác hospital, but during the prayer movement this number dropped to ten per week."

On March 24, 2025, Bishop Zsolt Marton, the family referent, said that this is the third season that they have joined the 40 Days for Life prayer movement in the Diocese of Vác. He was initially wary of this demonstrative form, but “this is not a political issue, but a stand, even if it is of a very minority position.” They experienced the intervention of the Holy Spirit in the fact that the Vác hospital was particularly cooperative, so much so that one autumn day, when it was raining, they were allowed into the hospital auditorium. A doctor even joined them.

The Vác hospital usually has 15 abortions per week, but during the prayer movement, this number decreased to 10 per week.

According to Zsolt Marton, these alone made the prayer worthwhile for the surviving children.

The diocesan bishop said that he is increasingly concerned about the future of the Church, and whether there will be life at all. If there are no children and no healthy families, then we are facing enormous challenges. He also spoke about the fact that he is also besieging the members of the MKPK to ensure that, to achieve this goal, every diocese has a pro-life representative, similar to the family representative.
