The spiritual fruits of the Spring 40 Days for Life campaign in Mostar, Bosnia

Tuesday, 20 May, 2025 • •

The Mostar team is grateful to God for His grace that this year, in the spring of 2025, the campaign "40 Days for Life" in Mostar was renewed. The team sincerely thanks our pastor, Bishop Monsignor Petar Palić, for the fatherly blessing with which the organization of this campaign began. His support was a strong sign of unity and encouragement.

The campaign began with a Holy Mass at the start of Lent and ended with a Thanksgiving Mass on Palm Sunday. On the feast of St. Joseph, March 19, the team celebrated the feast of the patron saint of our initiative with a solemn Eucharistic celebration

Throughout the campaign, as well as after its end, the team faithfully participated in the liturgical and prayerful life of the hospital chapel. In cooperation with the hospital chaplain, we participated in liturgical celebrations and contributed to the musical animation, which provided a special spiritual edification and joy for us. The team especially highlights the introduction of 24-hour Eucharistic adoration every Wednesday, which brought together numerous believers, including permanent adorators for the night hours.

The campaign was marked by a strong response from the prayers, numerous testimonies, and deep impressions. Many people wrote their experiences in the book of impressions at the place of the vigil. We are particularly pleased that new prayer teams have been formed, gathered around the intention to protect unborn life.

Since the beginning of the vigil, numerous fruits have been achieved:

  • The campaign in Mostar was one of the best media-covered campaigns in the world since the founding of the Initiative in 2007.
  • 33 pro-life billboards were placed throughout Herzegovina.
  • The documentary film “40 Days for Life” was shown three times on local television.
  • The liturgical program in the chapel of the SKB Mostar was strengthened: masses, devotions, and adoration.
  • We participated in the international conference “Life, therefore, choose!” in Zagreb.
  • People who used to pray in other cities are now coming to Mostar.

In the spirit of gratitude and dedication, the team also launched new projects:

  • Filming a documentary series in collaboration with Maria Vision TV, with topics on prayer, abortion, and testimonies.
  • A live broadcast of 24-hour adoration from the hospital chapel is planned.
  • Launching the “Freed by Forgiveness” program for women wounded by abortion.
  • Long-term goal: permanent Eucharistic adoration in the hospital chapel – the first of its kind in the world – with renovation of the space.
