Pray and ask God to show you how he wants you to end abortion where you live. Pray for courage and boldness to ask for great things in prayer, so that God can work in and through you to save lives in your local community and beyond. You might be astonished by the results. 

Prayer is about raising our hearts and minds to God, to unite our will to the will of God. God can accomplish more than we can possibly imagine and he works powerfully through those who are close to him. God has worked powerfully throughout salvation history to bring immense spiritual changes. National transformation is possible. Seas have parted and countless miracles conducted. There is no reason why these epic and immense acts cannot happen today, and through prayer, God can end abortion. Miracles can happen in your own community, right where you live! 

40 Days for Life is a locally organized community initiative encouraging Christians to pray and fast for an end to abortion. 40 Days for Life is a focused pro-life campaign with a vision to access God’s power through prayer, fasting and peaceful vigil to end abortion. The mission of the campaign is to bring together the body of Christ in a spirit of unity during a focused 40 day campaign of prayer, fasting and peaceful vigil. 

The campaign includes a peaceful vigil of standing for life throughout a 40 days peaceful public witness, normally outside the local abortion centre, inviting people of faith to pray and fast throughout the community to end abortion and conducting community outreach: taking a positive, upbeat pro-life message to every part of the city through media efforts, Church and school outreach, petition drives and public visibility. 

In many countries, people are not told about the possible negative emotional, physical and spiritual consequences of abortion. The mainstream media normally take a position overwhelmingly in favor of abortion, saturating the airwaves with biased information and casting pro-lifers in a negative light. Christian Churches have fallen silent about abortion, becoming apathetic or indifferent, failing to speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves. 

Our culture has turned away from God with atheism, skepticism and nihilism. This could be a moment for despair. But Scripture reminds us, “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7:14).

Some of the spiritual blessings of conducting a 40 Days for Life campaign include, seeing the abortion rate reduce by 10%, 15%, 20% or more in the local community, recruiting hundreds and thousands of new people into new life saving methods, helping lead post abortive men and women into proven healing programs and developing dynamic leaders to increase the future impact of pro-life efforts. 

Churches have been brought together in a historic display of unity and action thanks to 40 Days for Life. Enormous “buzz” has been generated by getting prominent pro-life news coverage, even from biased media outlets. Financial support for future pro-life efforts have been significantly increased and the sanctity of life has been helped to become a crucial issue throughout community in local and national elections. 

Throughout salvation history God has used the 40 Day time period for immense spiritual change. Nineveh was transformed when God gave the city 40 days to remain faithful. Jesus transformed the world after he spent 40 days in the desert and the disciples were transformed after spending 40 days with Jesus following his resurrection. 

What will God accomplish when people of faith across YOUR community and beyond unite for 40 Days of prayer and fasting, doing everything possible to end the violence of abortion.

Can you imagine meeting a child saved from abortion, thanks to your prayers, work and outreach? Jacquie was a mother attending an abortion appointment in London. She met a pavement counsellor and sought counseling. Prayers were offered for her, along with encouragement and the promise of financial support. The outcome was that Jacquie kept her baby. Her financial situation improved after the baby was born. Her grandparents loved the baby and Jacquie achieved her goals in her career with the support and prayers of pro-lifers. Jacquie is just one woman who has been helped through prayer to choose life rather than abortion. How many more children would be alive today, helping women like Jacquie in everyday circumstances? You can be the hands and feet of Christ in your community to help those in need. 

Over 90% of volunteers have experience spiritual growth as a result of participating in 40 Days for Life. People have turned to God with hope. For nearly a third of volunteers, it is the first pro-life activity they have taken part in. You can personally participate with your prayers to help change the lives of others around where you live. Pray and ask God to show you the unique role he has for you in the 40 Days for Life effort. Prayer volunteers are needed, vigil participation is needed as you can pray and stand outside an abortion centre as a sign of hope.  For outgoing people, community outreach might be the way you can build a growing awareness in others of the humanity of the unborn child. 

40 Days for Life has been proven effective, tried and tested throughout the world. Thousands of lives have been saved from abortion, hundreds of abortion workers have left and hundreds of abortion facilities have closed. Over a million volunteers have participated in thousands of campaigns and Churches. These staggering numbers would not have possible without the sacrifice of local leaders and volunteers who have dedicated their time and talents to continuing to fight against abortion. Behind each number is a personal story of a life changed.
